Chen Yanyan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Work, Fudan University. She obtained her PhD degree from the Department of Social Work, the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the year of 2013. Her PhD thesis is on multi-dimensions of elderly poverty and resilience of the aged poor in China. She then worked at the Sao Po Centre on Ageing, the University of Hong Kong as a post-doctoral fellow from 2013 to early 2014. During her post-doc study, she participated in research projects on aging in place of the low-income elders, elderly poverty from the perspective of household resource distribution, and mental health of the Chinese elders. Her recent research interest mainly includes inequality and poverty, gerontological social work, and qualitative research methods.
She has published a paper on qualitative research methods on the International Journal of Adolescent Medicine and Health, as well as a book chapter on the food bank development in Hong Kong by the Press of Palgrave Macmillan in UK. She also has several research articles under review by the Journals of Gerontology, Psychological Medicine, the International Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, etc.
